Cinemavixion Review

Rafael Romero Marchent's 1968 Western, "One by One," plunges viewers into the treacherous landscape of the Texas-Mexico frontier during the Civil War. The narrative centers on Colonel Greyson, falsely accused of embezzling funds meant for the Confederacy. The truth, however, is far more complex: he was betrayed by his own officers, who absconded with the money. The story gains momentum when Bill Greyson, the Colonel's son, arrives and is nearly lynched by misguided citizens. He finds an unlikely ally in El Charro, the leader of a Mexican gang, who reveals the truth and aids Bill in his quest for vengeance against the four former officers, now respectable and wealthy citizens. Yet, El Charro harbors his own motives, intending to outsmart the naive Bill and claim the fortune for himself. The film probes the age-old question: does crime truly pay? With a cast including Peter Lee Lawrence, Guglielmo Spoletini, and Dyanik Zurakowska, "One by One" offers a classic tale of betrayal, revenge, and the blurred lines between justice and greed, set against the rugged backdrop of the American West.
