ONCE UPON A TIME IN VENICE

Cinemavixion Review

A gritty, yet often humorous, dive into the life of a Los Angeles private investigator, "Once Upon a Time in Venice" stars Bruce Willis as Steve Ford, a man whose world is thrown into chaos when his beloved dog, Buddy, is stolen by a local gang. What follows is a chaotic chain of events that sees Ford entangled in the gang's illicit activities, all while evading vengeful Samoan brothers and loan shark goons. The film, directed by Mark Cullen, offers a darkly comedic look at loyalty and desperation, with Willis grounding the increasingly absurd plot. While critical reception was lukewarm, with Rotten Tomatoes noting a 21% score, the film's blend of crime-thriller elements and buddy-cop tropes provides a unique, albeit uneven, viewing experience. It's a story that underscores the deep bond between a man and his best friend, even amidst a whirlwind of L.A. underworld shenanigans.
