ON THE MARKET

Cinemavixion Review

"On the Market" dives headfirst into the often turbulent waters of modern romance and financial precarity. Director Michael Thomas DeLano crafts a narrative that is both relatable and comically exaggerated, following a recently engaged couple whose dreams of wedded bliss are quickly overshadowed by the harsh realities of their finances. The chemistry between Maria Breese and Patrick McLain is palpable as they navigate the increasingly absurd advice of a kooky therapist, a plot device that injects much of the film's charm and humor. While the premise touches on serious themes of relationship strain under economic pressure, the film leans into its comedic potential, offering a lighthearted yet poignant exploration of love's resilience against the backdrop of financial woes. It’s a timely reminder that sometimes, the biggest hurdles to a shared future are the ones we create ourselves, often with unintended hilarious consequences.
