OMAGH

Cinemavixion Review

Pete Travis's 'Omagh' is a profoundly moving and unflinching examination of the devastating aftermath of the 1998 Real IRA bombing. The film masterfully navigates the complex emotional landscape experienced by the victims' families, particularly the Gallagher family, as they grapple with unimaginable loss and a desperate search for justice. Gerard McSorley delivers a powerful performance as Michael Gallagher, whose grief fuels a relentless pursuit of truth that strains his personal relationships. Supported by the poignant portrayals of Michèle Forbes and Brenda Fricker, the film avoids sensationalism, instead focusing on the human cost of terrorism and the arduous path toward accountability. With critical acclaim, including a BAFTA Award and an impressive 88% on Rotten Tomatoes, 'Omagh' stands as a vital piece of cinema, a testament to resilience and a stark reminder of the enduring impact of such tragedies.
