NON—TOXIC ISLAND

Cinemavixion Review

"Non—Toxic Island" plunges viewers into the gritty reality of Binhai City, a seemingly tranquil island locale threatened by the insidious tide of drugs. Based on real events, the film follows anti-narcotics officer Xu Fei as he uncovers a potential surge in crystal methamphetamine. The narrative gains traction through the observations of his apprentice, Chen Xiaodan, who notes a disturbing increase in relapsed addicts. These threads converge on Qiaotou village, a location the police identify as the hiding place for a significant drug manufacturing operation. The film dramatizes the "hunting" operation, a city-wide initiative aimed at combating the drug trade. It presents a stark battle between good and evil, exploring themes of sinking and redemption within the community. The ensemble cast, including Jiao Manting, Hou Yong, Pan Yuchen, Tao Huimin, and Gao Dawei, navigates this tense environment, bringing to life the struggles and sacrifices inherent in the fight against narcotics.
