NIGHT TIDE

Cinemavixion Review

Curtis Harrington's "Night Tide" offers a hypnotic and atmospheric dive into the alluring dangers of the unknown. Set against the backdrop of a fading seaside carnival, the film masterfully crafts a sense of unease as a young sailor, portrayed compellingly by Dennis Hopper, becomes entangled with a mysterious woman who performs as a mermaid. Harrington skillfully blends elements of romance and supernatural horror, drawing the audience into a world where myth and reality blur. The film's enduring appeal, bolstered by an impressive 86% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, lies in its moody visuals and the haunting portrayal of a siren whose allure promises both ecstasy and doom. "Night Tide" is a chilling, dreamlike exploration of obsession and the primal fear of the deep, a cult classic that continues to captivate with its unique, eerie charm.
