Gordon Douglas's "Niagara Falls" is a charming, albeit brief, romantic comedy that playfully explores the clash of personalities. Marjorie Woodworth shines as Margie Blake, a woman with clear aspirations for a large family, whose chance encounter with Tom Brown's cynical traveling salesman, Tom Wilson, sets the stage for delightful antagonism. The plot ingeniously uses a well-meaning but meddling couple, Sam and Emmy Sawyer, to throw Margie and Tom into close quarters, leading to a series of comedic misunderstandings. The film masterfully balances the budding, albeit reluctant, romance with the underlying humor of its characters' opposing views on love and commitment. Despite its short runtime, "Niagara Falls" offers a sweet and engaging look at how opposites can indeed attract, anchored by solid performances from its ensemble cast, including the ever-reliable Zasu Pitts.
