NEW PAINTED SKIN

Cinemavixion Review

"New Painted Skin" delves into a world where deception and sacrifice intertwine. The narrative follows General Shouyang's perilous strategy against the demon tribe, a plan complicated by the capture of his fiancée, Qiusang. In a tragic turn, Qiusang is killed, leading the compassionate Changmian to assume her identity through a remarkable act of skin painting. As Changmian navigates her role as Shouyang's wife within the demon city, the looming threat of discovery intensifies. The film explores themes of loyalty, betrayal, and the profound burden of secrets. Changmian's internal struggle culminates in a dramatic revelation and a self-sacrificial gambit, presenting a compelling, albeit tragic, exploration of love and duty amidst warfare.
