MY TREE

Cinemavixion Review

Jason Sherman's documentary 'My Tree' embarks on a deeply personal and profoundly resonant journey, tracing the filmmaker's quest to locate a tree planted in his name in Israel. What begins as a search for a personal connection to the land evolves into a complex confrontation with history and ethics when Sherman discovers the tree stands on the grounds of a Palestinian village razed in 1967. The film poignantly explores themes of identity, displacement, and the often-unacknowledged weight of historical narratives, challenging viewers to consider their own responsibilities in the face of forgotten injustices. It's a powerful testament to the enduring impact of personal discovery on our understanding of collective history.
