MY STEPBROTHER IS A VAMPIRE

Cinemavixion Review

David DeCoteau's 2013 offering, 'My Stepbrother Is a Vampire!?!', delves into the familiar territory of suburban discovery with a supernatural twist. The film centers on Nancy, who begins to suspect her newly acquired stepbrother harbors a decidedly undead secret. While the premise treads a path well-worn by teen horror-comedies, the execution aims for lighthearted chills and familial awkwardness. The performances, particularly from the central cast including Jud Birza and Shae Landers, navigate the blend of adolescent angst and vampiric tropes with a earnestness that should resonate with younger audiences. Though it may not break new ground in the genre, 'My Stepbrother Is a Vampire!?!' offers a straightforward, if modest, exploration of the monstrous lurking beneath the surface of everyday life.
