MÁXIMA, PORTRAIT OF A PRINCESS

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary offers an intimate glimpse into the multifaceted life of Princess Máxima, capturing her in a pivotal year of her public and private journey. Filmed over twelve months by NOS Television, the documentary navigates the complex terrain of her roles: as a dedicated advocate for Inclusive Finance, engaging with global figures like Hillary Clinton and Ban Ki-moon, and undertaking vital field trips to regions such as the Nile Delta. The film also sensitively portrays her public relations duties within the Dutch monarchy and her deeply personal commitments as a wife and mother to her three daughters. Director Etienne Glebbeek masterfully weaves together moments of high-level engagement with serene family life at Villa Eikenhorst, presenting a nuanced portrait of a modern royal balancing international responsibility with domestic warmth. The personal interviews provide a passionate insight into her motivations and worldview.
