MUD ZOMBIES

Cinemavixion Review

Rodrigo Aragão's "MUD ZOMBIES" plunges viewers into the harsh realities of a remote fishing community in Brazil's Espirito Santo state. The film starkly portrays the struggle for survival against environmental degradation, as pollution threatens the very mangroves that sustain the villagers. This precarious existence takes a horrifying turn when the contaminated waters birth grotesque, zombie-like creatures, transforming the familiar landscape into a hunting ground. As the community is decimated, a previously timid survivor unearths a surprising aptitude for the machete, a skill that becomes their only hope against the relentless onslaught. While the film excels in its atmospheric dread and visceral horror, the protagonist's development as a fighter is compelling, even if his romantic prowess remains underdeveloped amidst the chaos.
