MST3K 101: THE CRAWLING EYE

Cinemavixion Review

In its inaugural broadcast on The Comedy Channel, Mystery Science Theater 3000 delivered an unforgettable debut with 'The Crawling Eye.' This 1958 science-fiction B-movie plunges viewers into a chilling scenario where a Swiss village becomes the battleground against insidious, one-eyed extraterrestrial entities. The narrative follows a journalist and a UN troubleshooter as they unravel the mystery behind these monstrous invaders. Complementing the main feature, the 'SOL' segments showcase Joel's endearing efforts to upgrade the robot companions with RAM chips, while the 'Deep 13' antics provide a darkly comedic counterpoint as Dr. Forrester subjects Dr. Erhardt to a rather unorthodox canine antiperspirant. This episode masterfully blends genuine B-movie schlock with the show's signature witty commentary, setting a high bar for the experiments to come.
