MR. ENGAGEMENT

Cinemavixion Review

Joe Davison's "Mr. Engagement" (2012) offers a familiar yet engaging romantic comedy premise, exploring the consequences of a player's aversion to commitment. Starring Rod Grant as the unfaithful Thomas Nichols, the film charts his elaborate, albeit twisted, scheme to win back his girlfriend Lori after she catches him in the act. The plot thickens as his attempts to propose to other women to prove his changed ways hilariously backfire, leading to a series of comedic failures. While the film may tread well-worn romantic comedy territory, its strength lies in its execution and the performances of its cast, including Ashlie Dawn Stevens and Natalie Stavola. The narrative cleverly intertwines Thomas's predicament with his own evolving understanding of love and commitment, ultimately questioning whether he truly desires his ex or the more genuine connection he finds elsewhere. Despite a modest IMDb rating of 5.0, "Mr. Engagement" provides a lighthearted and entertaining watch, suitable for those seeking a straightforward romantic comedy with a touch of playful self-discovery.
