Cinemavixion Review

Sam Newfield's 1937 Western, "Moonlight on the Range," offers a straightforward tale of fraternal conflict and frontier justice. Starring Fred Scott as the determined cowboy Jeff Peters, the film plunges into a narrative of revenge as Jeff seeks to avenge his murdered friend. The plot is further complicated by the presence of Jeff's evil half-brother, whose resemblance to Jeff becomes a tool for deception, leading to Jeff's wrongful arrest. Fortunately, a timely rescue by Al St. John's character, Fuzzy, allows Jeff to continue his pursuit. While the film may not break new ground in the genre, its classic Western tropes and clear-cut morality provide a solid viewing experience for fans of the era's B-Westerns. The performances, particularly from Scott and St. John, anchor the story with a familiar, dependable charm.
