MONSIEUR MAYONNAISE

Cinemavixion Review

Trevor Graham's "Monsieur Mayonnaise" is a deeply personal and artistically rendered documentary that delves into the harrowing yet ultimately triumphant story of Philippe Mora's family during the Holocaust. Graham masterfully guides the audience through Mora's globe-trotting investigation into his parents' survival, blending historical accounts with the artist's own creative process. The film highlights the remarkable resilience of Mora's German-Jewish father, who played a vital role in the French Resistance, and his French-Jewish mother, whose escape from the brink of death is a testament to human endurance. "Monsieur Mayonnaise" is more than a historical record; it's an intimate exploration of memory, art, and the enduring power of family narratives, presented with a unique, ingredient-heavy touch that makes the past vividly present.
