MOMMY

Cinemavixion Review

Max Allan Collins's "Mommy" plunges into the dark psyche of maternal obsession, presenting a chilling narrative that echoes classic tales of disturbed childhoods. Patty McCormack delivers a compelling performance as a mother whose protectiveness curdles into something far more sinister when her daughter, Jessica Ann, is slighted. The film masterfully explores themes of ambition, delusion, and the devastating consequences of a warped maternal instinct. While the plot may tread familiar ground for fans of the genre, the execution is unsettling and effective, drawing viewers into a claustrophobic world where love and violence become indistinguishable. It’s a thought-provoking thriller that questions the very nature of familial bonds and the darkness that can fester beneath a seemingly ordinary surface.
