MISS IN HER TEENS | WAITING FOR TRUE LOVE

Cinemavixion Review

This charming Restoration comedy, 'Miss In Her Teens; or, The Surprise,' also known as 'Waiting For True Love,' presents a delightful romp through the complexities of young love and societal expectations. The plot centers on the spirited Miss Biddy, whose heart belongs to Captain Bob, a love forged before his departure for war. Upon his return, he finds his beloved courted by two other gentlemen, the foppish Captain Flash and the insipid Mr. Fribble, much to the amusement of Miss Biddy herself. The narrative is further spiced by the domestic entanglements of the manservants, adding a layer of farcical intrigue. While the film's origins as a play by David Garrick are evident in its witty dialogue and brisk pacing, the adaptation successfully captures the era's theatricality. The resolution, where true love triumphs over rivals and paternal objections, offers a satisfying conclusion to this lighthearted and engaging piece.
