MEXICAN CONNECTION

Cinemavixion Review

Damian Chapa's "Mexican Connection" plunges viewers into a gritty underworld narrative. The film chronicles Anthony D'Angelo's release from prison and his subsequent realization of a shifting power dynamic on the streets, now dominated by Mexican syndicates. To secure his next score, Anthony must navigate the complex hierarchy and gain the approval of the titular "Mexican Connection." Chapa, who also stars in the film, delivers a performance that grounds the story, supported by Michael Ochotorena and Laura Gomez. While the plot synopsis suggests a classic crime thriller setup, the film's execution, as indicated by its IMDb rating, appears to lean into a more direct, perhaps raw, portrayal of its characters' struggles and ambitions. It's a tale of adaptation and survival in a world where alliances are forged out of necessity and ambition.
