METRO

Cinemavixion Review

Anton Megerdichev's 2013 thriller "Metro" plunges audiences into the claustrophobic terror of Moscow's underground, where a catastrophic flood threatens to engulf hundreds of commuters. The film masterfully builds suspense as a construction mishap causes a tunnel collapse, unleashing the Moscow River's fury upon a trapped subway train. At its heart, "Metro" is a story of survival and redemption, following a doctor and his daughter as they navigate the collapsing infrastructure and their own personal demons. With a strong performance from Sergey Puskepalis and a gripping narrative, the film offers a tense and emotionally resonant disaster movie experience that highlights human resilience in the face of overwhelming odds. While it garnered 1 win and 9 nominations, its true value lies in its ability to create a palpable sense of dread and a compelling fight for life.
