MAYBE I'M FINE

Cinemavixion Review

"Maybe I'm Fine" offers a surprisingly heartfelt journey centered on young Sam Childs, portrayed with commendable depth by Isabella Blake-Thomas. The narrative, penned by Elizabeth Blake-Thomas and Isabella Blake-Thomas, cleverly blends a coming-of-age story with a road trip adventure, all set against the backdrop of a looming parental divorce. When Sam embarks on an impromptu trip with her musician father, Barry, to a competition, the ensuing chaos—mistaken for a kidnapping—forces the family into an unexpected period of bonding. Director Elizabeth Blake-Thomas navigates the dramatic tension with a sensitive touch, ensuring the film’s emotional core remains intact amidst the escalating pursuit by her mother and law enforcement. While the film may not boast extensive accolades, its strength lies in its intimate portrayal of familial complexities and the resilience of its young protagonist.
