Released in 1932, "Mason of the Mounted" is a Western that showcases the charm and simplicity of early cinema. Directed by Harry L. Fraser, the film stars Bill Cody as Mason, a Canadian Mountie tasked with tracking a horse thief across the border. Armed with little more than a watch chain as a clue, Mason's investigation leads him to befriend a young boy named Andy, played by Andy Shuford. The narrative takes a turn when a confrontation with the villainous Calhoun results in Mason discovering the missing chain attached to Calhoun's watch, setting the stage for a classic showdown. Nancy Drexel also features in this straightforward, yet engaging, tale of justice and determination. While not a lavish production, "Mason of the Mounted" offers a satisfying Western adventure that holds up as a testament to the genre's enduring appeal.
