MARY ANNING: VICTORIAN FOSSIL HUNTER'S STOLEN FAME

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the compelling life of Mary Anning, a remarkable figure in the history of palaeontology. Born in Lyme Regis in 1799, Anning's contributions as a fossil collector and scientist were groundbreaking, though often overshadowed by misrepresentation in her time. The film, featuring insights from Dr. Anjana Khatwa, Dr. Liz Hide, David Tucker, and Anya Pearson, thoughtfully explores her legacy, highlighting how her meticulous drawings and extraordinary discoveries continue to influence and inspire scientists today. It's a poignant look at a woman whose passion for uncovering the past significantly shaped our understanding of prehistoric life, despite facing societal barriers.
