This biographical drama meticulously chronicles the pivotal years of Martin Luther's life, from 1505 to 1530, charting the genesis of the Protestant Reformation. Irving Pichel's direction masterfully captures the internal and external conflicts faced by the theologian, brought to life by a compelling performance from Niall MacGinnis. The film delves into Luther's courageous stand against the established Church, highlighted by his famous ninety-five Theses, and the profound theological and political schisms that ensued. It's a significant exploration of faith, conscience, and the courage to challenge deeply entrenched authority.
