Cinemavixion Review

Paul Yule and Andy Harries' 1986 documentary, "Martin Chambi and the Heirs of the Incas | Peru Through Time," offers a compelling exploration into the life and photographic legacy of Martín Chambi. Celebrated as one of the 20th century's most extraordinary photographers, Chambi's work provides an intimate and profound visual narrative of Peruvian society and the enduring cultural heritage of the Andes. From his base in Cusco, Chambi's lens captured a diverse spectrum of life, documenting both the Indigenous communities and the European elite with equal sensitivity. His extensive body of work serves as an invaluable historical document, bridging cultural divides and preserving the rich traditions of the Andean region for posterity.
