MARMALADE

Cinemavixion Review

Kim Dempster's 2004 romantic comedy, "Marmalade," offers a poignant, albeit familiar, look at the precarious nature of a career in high fashion and the personal toll it can exact. Starring Jill Sorensen and Jennifer Kusner, the film charts the downfall of a fashion model navigating the harsh realities of aging out of a youth-obsessed industry. As her professional life crumbles, her personal world follows suit, creating a narrative that is both a commentary on societal pressures and a character-driven drama. While the film may not break new ground in the genre, its earnest portrayal of its protagonist's struggles, coupled with a solid performance from its lead, makes "Marmalade" a worthy watch for those interested in the intersection of ambition, vanity, and personal resilience. The film's modest reception and limited awards suggest it's more of a cult find than a mainstream hit, but its thematic relevance continues to resonate.
