MACBETH: THE REAL KING BEHIND SHAKESPEARE'S TRAGEDY

Cinemavixion Review

Tony Robinson delves into the historical reality of King Macbeth, challenging Shakespeare's iconic portrayal. This documentary separates the man from the myth, presenting Macbeth not as the villainous tyrant of the stage, but as a complex 11th-century Scottish king who reigned for over a decade. Robinson uncovers a narrative that, while perhaps less melodramatic than Shakespeare's version, is arguably more compelling in its historical intricacy. The film explores Macbeth's actual rise to power and his reign, suggesting that the true story of this Scottish monarch is a fascinating study in leadership, ambition, and the often-brutal politics of medieval Scotland, offering a fresh perspective on a legend we thought we knew.
