L'ULTIMO DECAMERON

Cinemavixion Review

Italo Alfaro's "L'ultimo Decameron" offers a playful take on Boccaccio's classic tales, reimagining them through the lens of Italian comedy. The film presents seven novellas, each infused with the characteristic wit and social commentary often found in the 'commedia all'italiana' genre. While the original Decameron delves into the human condition with a mix of tragedy and comedy, Alfaro's interpretation leans heavily into the latter, promising a lighthearted and perhaps irreverent exploration of timeless human desires and follies. The cast, featuring Pier Paola Bucchi, Giovanni Elsner, and Roy Bosier, navigates these comedic scenarios with a style that aims to entertain and provoke laughter, making it a potentially enjoyable watch for those seeking a modern, humorous twist on a literary masterpiece.
