LOVERS AND LOLLIPOPS

Cinemavixion Review

Morris Engel's 'Lovers and Lollipops' offers a tender, vérité glimpse into the burgeoning romance of Ann, a widowed New York model, and her daughter Peggy's perspective on this new chapter. Filmed with an authentic, lived-in feel across various New York locales, the film masterfully captures the delicate dance of courtship. Lori March delivers a nuanced performance as Ann, navigating the complexities of love and motherhood with quiet grace. The dual viewpoint, shifting between the adult lovers and the observant child, provides a unique and poignant exploration of relationships. While perhaps lacking the overt polish of studio productions, its realistic charm and heartfelt storytelling resonate, making it a compelling watch for those who appreciate intimate, character-driven cinema.
