LOVE SHOT

Cinemavixion Review

Steven Fine's "Love Shot" presents a stylish, albeit somewhat uneven, exploration of fate and unexpected connection within the gritty underworld of Los Angeles. The film centers on a hitman whose professional detachment is challenged when he encounters his intended target, a karaoke hostess in Koreatown. What follows is a narrative that attempts to blend the tension of a crime thriller with the burgeoning awkwardness of a romantic encounter. While the premise offers intriguing possibilities, the execution can feel a bit derivative. John Kapelos lends his gravitas to the supporting cast, grounding the more fantastical elements of the story. "Love Shot" might not reinvent the genre, but it offers a diverting watch for those intrigued by the "enemies-to-lovers" trope set against a backdrop of professional danger.
