LOVE FLOWER

Cinemavixion Review

Sahm McGlynn's 2019 film "Love Flower" presents a darkly comedic and increasingly surreal descent into the chaos of modern life. The narrative follows Joshua, a protagonist whose existence seems to be a perfect storm of personal and professional woes. His romantic relationship is strained, his job demands are relentless, and he finds himself entangled in a dubious holistic health scheme. The arrival of an old friend, Bucky, with unwelcome news only exacerbates his precarious situation. Yet, as the film wisely suggests, appearances can be deceiving, and what initially seems like a straightforward tale of misfortune gradually unfolds into something more complex and unexpected. Anchored by solid performances from Will David, Anna Irving, and Ben Lynch, "Love Flower" offers a thought-provoking, albeit sometimes bleak, exploration of how seemingly insurmountable challenges can mask deeper truths. While not a widely recognized blockbuster, its independent spirit and intriguing premise make it a worthy watch for those who appreciate character-driven dramas with a touch of the absurd.
