LOVE, BLOOD, & AZTEC DEMONS

Cinemavixion Review

In "Love, Blood, & Aztec Demons," director Alaric S. Rocha embarks on a fascinating cinematic archaeology, unearthing the legacy of the enigmatic Mexican cult filmmaker Juan F. Moctezuma II. This documentary meticulously reconstructs the career of a visionary whose bold, surreal horror films, including the fabled "1000 Paths of Death," vanished along with him in 1977. Through a compelling blend of rare, restored footage and insightful expert commentary, Rocha guides the audience through Moctezuma II's audacious artistic journey and the enduring mystery of his fate. It's a poignant tribute to a forgotten master, celebrating a crucial, albeit shadowy, figure in the annals of Mexican cinema and inviting viewers to discover a unique and influential voice.
