L'OSTAGGIO (LA FARINA DEL DIAVOLO)

Cinemavixion Review

In a Wild West setting plagued by Native Americans and bandits, a group of children unexpectedly become the agents of order. Impersonating cowboys, they engage in brawls, shootouts, and train robberies. The 'hostage' of the title refers to a girl's dog, who is abducted by the villainous Billy the Liar. This 1975 Italian film, directed by Luigi Valanzano, stars Aldo Ballanti, Walter Battistelli, and Tony Biccari in a peculiar tale that blends childhood adventure with the harsh realities of the frontier. While the premise is certainly unique, the execution aims for a blend of action and innocence, offering a curious take on the Western genre.
