LONG-DISTANCE PRINCESS

Cinemavixion Review

In the realm of high school romances, "Long-Distance Princess" (2012) offers a familiar yet engaging narrative, helmed by director Lionel Chew. The film centers on Lisa, a sophomore grappling with a secret affection for Todd, a popular junior in her art class. Her quiet world is disrupted when Todd enlists her help to connect with Ellie, a friend residing in England, setting the stage for a transatlantic romantic entanglement. Adding to the drama are Cindy, Todd's vindictive ex-girlfriend, who employs underhanded tactics to reclaim him, and Todd's status-conscious friends, who subtly discourage his budding friendship with the unassuming Lisa. While the plot treads well-worn paths of teenage angst and romantic rivalry, the performances from Alicen Evans, Parker Harris, and Bennet Jaffarian lend a genuine charm to the proceedings. "Long-Distance Princess" is a sweet, if predictable, exploration of adolescent love and the hurdles it must overcome, making it a pleasant watch for fans of the genre.
