L'ODORE DELLA NOTTE

Cinemavixion Review

Claudio Caligari's 'L'odore della notte' plunges viewers into the gritty underworld of 1980s Rome, charting the descent of an ex-policeman into a life of crime. Valerio Mastandrea delivers a compelling performance as the protagonist, navigating a spiral of increasing desperation and violence. The film is a stark portrayal of societal decay and the corrupting influence of the criminal element, offering a raw and unflinching look at a dark chapter of the city's history. With strong performances also from Marco Giallini and Giorgio Tirabassi, 'L'odore della notte' stands as a powerful, albeit bleak, examination of morality and consequence.
