LLOYD THE CONQUEROR

Cinemavixion Review

Michael Peterson's "Lloyd the Conqueror" plunges viewers into the chaotic world of live-action role-playing, affectionately known as LARPing. This 2011 Canadian comedy, starring Brian Posehn, Mike Smith, and Evan Williams, follows three college students as they confront the formidable Derek the Unholy, a dark wizard intent on defending his LARPing championship. Despite its niche subject matter, the film garnered a respectable 80% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 5.8/10 on IMDb, suggesting it successfully appeals to both its target audience and a broader comedy-loving demographic. With a runtime of 95 minutes and an "R" rating, "Lloyd the Conqueror" promises a raucous, wizard-battling adventure that champions the spirit of imaginative play and friendly competition, even when the stakes are as high as a LARPing title.
