LIVE ESCAPE

Cinemavixion Review

Joe Lujan's "Live Escape" (2022) plunges viewers into a chilling scenario within a derelict homeless shelter, transformed into a labyrinthine death trap. The film follows two police officers as they uncover the horrifying origins of a zombie outbreak, raising the terrifying stakes of whether these undead horrors will breach the city limits. While the premise offers a classic zombie horror narrative, the film's critical reception, as indicated by its IMDb rating of 2.5/10, suggests a struggle to fully realize its potential. Despite the low score, the tight focus on a confined, eerie setting and the cops' race against time to understand and contain the escalating zombie threat provide moments of suspense. Starring Bryant Smith, Joe Lujan, and Eric Lum, "Live Escape" is a direct-to-video entry that leans into its B-movie roots, offering a grim, contained zombie outbreak story for genre enthusiasts.
