Norman Z. McLeod's 1940 adaptation of "Little Men" offers a heartwarming, albeit somewhat dated, portrayal of resilience and found family. Based on Louisa May Alcott's beloved novel, the film centers on Jo March and Professor Bhaer's Plumfield School, a sanctuary for underprivileged boys. The narrative gains momentum with the arrival of Dan, a street-smart youth whose inherent goodness is tested by circumstance and deception. Kay Francis imbues Jo with a maternal warmth, while Jack Oakie provides a charming performance as the determined Professor.
