LISTEN TO YOUR HEART

Cinemavixion Review

In "Listen to Your Heart," director Matt Thompson crafts a poignant romance that transcends conventional communication. Kent Moran stars as Danny, a struggling musician whose world is forever changed by Ariana, portrayed with delicate grace by Alexia Rasmussen. Ariana, a deaf woman from a privileged background, becomes Danny's muse, inspiring a music that she herself cannot experience. Their burgeoning love is beautifully complicated by the anxieties of her overprotective mother, played with compelling conviction by Cybill Shepherd, who fears the potential heartbreak her daughter might face. The film, released in 2010, deftly explores themes of love, dreams, and the profound ways in which connection can be forged beyond auditory means. The narrative, co-written by Moran himself, offers a touching portrayal of a relationship tested by societal expectations and personal tragedy. While the external data notes 14 wins and 4 nominations, specific accolades for this independent film are not widely publicized, yet its emotional resonance speaks volumes. "Listen to Your Heart" is a moving testament to the power of empathy and the enduring strength found in pursuing one's passions, even against significant odds.
