LIQUID SKY

Cinemavixion Review

Slava Tsukerman's "Liquid Sky" is a singular cinematic experience, a dazzlingly bizarre fusion of science fiction, punk aesthetics, and drug culture commentary. Set against the vibrant, gritty backdrop of 1980s New York, the film chronicles the arrival of enigmatic aliens whose quest for a unique opiate—released by the human brain during orgasm—intersects with the lives of the city's underground scene. Anne Carlisle delivers a tour-de-force performance, embodying both a charismatic model and her androgynous counterpart, navigating a world of hedonism and alienation. With its distinctive visual style and provocative themes, "Liquid Sky" remains a cult classic, lauded for its audacious originality and sharp, dark humor. Its critical acclaim, underscored by a strong Rotten Tomatoes score, testifies to its enduring impact and unique place in cinematic history.
