LIONFISH - THE SEA MONSTER | INVASIVE SPECIES

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary plunges into the vibrant yet perilous world of the lionfish, a striking species native to the Pacific's tropical reefs. Characterized by their magnificent, lion-like manes of venomous spines, these fish are now a significant ecological threat, dramatically altering marine ecosystems in the Caribbean and Atlantic. The narrative traces their invasive journey, suggesting a culpable origin: the accidental release of a few aquarium specimens into the wild. This fascinating, albeit alarming, account highlights the unintended consequences of human interaction with nature, urging a deeper understanding of invasive species and their impact on biodiversity. Featuring insights from Erin Calmes and Paul Gilman, the film serves as a stark reminder of the delicate balance within our oceans.
