LIGHT UP NIGHT

Cinemavixion Review

This film offers a poignant retelling of the biblical Book of Ruth, transposed to the rugged landscape of West Virginia. Director Jason Campbell masterfully guides us through Naomi's devastating loss and her unwavering bond with her daughter-in-law, Ruth. The performances, particularly from the lead cast, imbue the narrative with a deep sense of familial devotion and resilience against hardship. As Ruth pledges her loyalty, the film explores profound themes of commitment, faith, and the search for belonging in unfamiliar territory. While its runtime is concise, "Light Up Night" delivers an emotionally resonant story that highlights the enduring strength of women facing adversity, making it a worthy exploration of hope and steadfastness.
