Cinemavixion Review

This compelling Channel 4 documentary sheds light on the often-overlooked contributions of West Indian servicemen and women during World War II. The film offers a poignant look at individuals who served with distinction in the British forces, highlighting the experiences of a soldier in an English regiment and a pilot who joined the ATS, alongside those in the RAF ground crew. Through personal narratives, the documentary explores themes of duty, sacrifice, and the complex relationship between the West Indies and colonial Britain. It serves as a vital historical record, giving voice to those whose wartime efforts were integral to the Allied victory, yet whose stories have rarely been told. The film’s focus on individual experiences provides a powerful and intimate perspective on a significant chapter of history.
