LIFE OF BELLE

Cinemavixion Review

Shawn Robinson's 'Life of Belle' plunges into the harrowing aftermath of a child's disappearance, presenting itself as recovered footage from the residence of the missing eight-year-old, Annabelle Starnes. The film grapples with the chilling silence left in the wake of the 2018 vanishing, a void that the York County police department hopes to fill with public assistance. By adopting a found-footage aesthetic, Robinson aims to immerse the viewer in the raw, unsettling reality of the investigation, amplifying the sense of unease and desperation. The narrative is driven by the profound absence of Annabelle, with the recovered footage serving as a stark, fragmented testament to a life abruptly interrupted. This approach offers a unique, albeit somber, perspective on the enduring mystery and the psychological toll it exacts on a community.
