LIFE GETS IN THE WAY

Cinemavixion Review

Lili Matta's 'Life Gets in the Way' offers a poignant exploration of modern romance and personal resilience set against the glittering, yet often isolating, backdrop of Los Angeles. The narrative centers on a woman grappling with the echoes of a fractured past, her present existence a precarious balance in a city where genuine connection feels increasingly elusive. Donna Mills delivers a nuanced performance, embodying the character's vulnerability and quiet strength. The film masterfully captures the universal struggle to build a stable future while haunted by past regrets. With a runtime of 84 minutes, it's an intimate character study that resonates deeply, posing thoughtful questions about love, loss, and the courage it takes to rebuild one's life. The film's subtle direction and compelling performances make it a noteworthy addition to contemporary relationship dramas.
