LET THERE BE LIGHT

Cinemavixion Review

John Huston's "Let There Be Light" is a profound and unflinching examination of the psychological toll of war. Originally suppressed for decades, this documentary offers a stark look at returning soldiers grappling with the invisible wounds of combat. Narrated with gravitas by Walter Huston, the film's power lies in its raw honesty, capturing the struggles of men pushed beyond human endurance. Filmed within the walls of Long Island hospitals, the documentary avoids sensationalism, instead focusing on the quiet devastation and the arduous path toward healing. Its eventual release, though delayed, cemented its status as an important, albeit somber, piece of cinematic history, urging viewers to confront the lasting impact of conflict.
