LES FILLES DU ROI

Cinemavixion Review

Based on the acclaimed musical by Corey Payette and Julie McIsaac, "Les Filles du Roi" (The King's Daughters) presents a compelling narrative set in 1665 'New France,' now Montreal. The story centers on Kateri and her brother Jean-Baptiste, whose lives are irrevocably changed by the arrival of the King's Daughters. Their path intertwines with that of Marie-Jean Lespérance, a young woman whose aspirations for a new beginning are fraught with unforeseen complexities. Over a pivotal year, the distinct journeys of Mohawk, French, and English individuals converge, laying the groundwork for the formation of modern Canada. This production, adapted from a musical, promises a rich tapestry of colliding cultures and personal dreams against a significant historical backdrop.
