LEON DEGRELLE: THE BELGIAN WAR HERO WHO BETRAYED HIS COUNTRY TO THE NAZIS

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the complex and morally fraught figure of Leon Degrelle, a Belgian whose life trajectory serves as a stark examination of betrayal and ideological extremism. The narrative meticulously traces his path from a national figure to a collaborator, highlighting his deep entanglement with the Nazi regime. Degrelle's willingness to abandon his country and countrymen, even his own faith, in pursuit of acceptance by Adolf Hitler and service within the SS, offers a chilling case study in the seductive nature of fascism and the profound consequences of choosing allegiance to a destructive ideology over national and personal integrity. The film prompts critical reflection on the choices individuals make in times of conflict and the enduring impact of such decisions.
