LAVALANTULA

Cinemavixion Review

Mike Mendez's "Lavalantula" plunges viewers into a delightfully absurd scenario: volcanic eruptions in Los Angeles unleashing a swarm of gigantic, lava-breathing tarantulas. This B-movie spectacle leans heavily into its preposterous premise, offering a creature feature that is as entertaining as it is over-the-top. The film cleverly casts Steve Guttenberg, a nostalgic nod to a bygone era of action heroes, as Colton West, a former star now grappling with a career downturn. His journey through a city besieged by fiery arachnids is filled with moments of genuine B-movie charm and chaotic fun. While not aiming for critical acclaim, "Lavalantula" succeeds in its mission to deliver a creature-feature romp with a knowing wink, making it a must-watch for fans of schlocky, creature-feature horror-comedy.
