LAURA GETS A CAT

Cinemavixion Review

Michael Ferrell's "Laura Gets a Cat" (2017) offers a poignant, albeit sometimes languid, exploration of a young writer's internal and external struggles. Dana Brooke delivers a compelling performance as Laura, an artist navigating the complexities of unemployment, a dull relationship, and a passionate affair, all while her inner world teems with imaginative vitality. The film, which garnered 7 awards, deftly balances the mundane realities of city life with the vibrant landscape of Laura's mind. While the plot might meander for some, its strength lies in its intimate portrayal of creative ennui and the search for meaning amidst quotidian routines. "Laura Gets a Cat" is a thoughtful character study, recommended for those who appreciate introspective narratives and nuanced performances.
